The chief of police shall dispose of junked vehicles or parts thereof by removal to a scrap yard or demolished as scrap or salvage, but subject to the provisions of section 4-7-8 of this chapter. The chief of police may enter upon private property for the purposes specified in this chapter relative to removal of abandoned vehicles, to examine vehicles or parts thereof, obtain information as to the identity of vehicles, and to remove or cause the removal of a vehicle or parts thereof declared by the chief of police to be a nuisance, pursuant to the provisions of this chapter.
