9-2-2: TIRE MARKINGS:
Officers of the police department or any other person authorized by the mayor and council may mark a tire of a vehicle in a specific spot with relation to the curb or street surface, noting the time said vehicle is so marked.
If, after the permitted parking time has elapsed, the vehicle is still parked in the same parking space, it shall be prima facie evidence that a violation has occurred and a citation may be issued. Police officers, after making note of a license number of the vehicle and the name of the offender, where possible, may issue a ticket covering any parking offense under this section notifying the offender to pay the sum therefor at the city hall. Such officer may sign a complaint for the issuance of a warrant if the offender does not appear and pay said sum within the time specified.
No person shall obliterate or conceal any marking by a police officer on the tire of a vehicle for the purpose of preventing the police officer from determining the length of time said vehicle has been parked.
The moving of a vehicle for fifty feet (50') or less shall not be construed as an interruption of continuous parking. (Ord. 1181, 11-13-1979)
