6-1-3: WEAPONS, DISCHARGE OF:
It shall be unlawful to discharge any weapon (firearm, air gun, bow and arrow, or any missile that could be construed as a weapon) within the city; provided that this section shall not be construed to prohibit any officer of the law from discharging a weapon in the performance of his duty; nor to any citizen from discharging a weapon when lawfully defending person or property; nor to any properly enclosed and supervised pistol or archery range, provided that such ranges have a backstop capable of stopping projectiles (arrows, shot, or sling) shot into the backstop without spatter or ricochet. These ranges (pistol or archery) must be in a secluded or restricted rear so as to ensure that public life and property shall not be endangered. (1977 Code)
