§ 60.06 BACKFLOW PREVENTION ASSEMBLY REQUIREMENT.
   (A)   No water service connection to any premises shall be installed or maintained by the City's Public Works Department unless the water supply is protected as required by state law and this chapter. Service of water to any premises shall be discontinued by the Director if:
      (1)   A backflow prevention assembly required by state law or this chapter is not installed, tested or maintained;
      (2)   It is found that a backflow prevention assembly has been removed or bypassed; or
      (3)   An unprotected cross-connection exists on the premises. Service shall not be restored until the customer is in full compliance with this chapter.
   (B)   The customer's premises and water system shall be open for survey and inspection at all reasonable times to an authorized representative of the following city departments: Public Works, Building and Safety, Planning, Code Enforcement and the City Manager's Office, to determine whether cross-connections or violations of this chapter exist. When such a violation or condition becomes known, the Director shall deny or immediately discontinue service to the customer's premises by providing a physical break in the service line until the customer has corrected the condition(s) in conformance with state and city regulations adopted pursuant thereto.
   (C)   An approved backflow prevention assembly shall be installed and maintained on each service line to a customer's water system at or near the property line or immediately outside the building being served, and shall be installed before the first branch line leading off of the service line.
