The City Council may remove the City Manager at any time by a majority vote of its members. If requested, the City Council shall grant him a public hearing within 30 days following notice of removal. During the interim, the City Council may suspend the City Manager from duty but shall continue his salary, and, if the removal becomes final, shall pay his salary for two calendar months following the final removal date. The provisions of this section may be varied by, and shall be subject to, any contract duly entered into between the city and the City Manager.
