A zoning board of appeals is hereby authorized to be established. The word "board", when used in this chapter, shall be construed to mean the zoning board of appeals. The board shall consist of seven (7) members appointed by the president, by and with the consent of the village board. The members of the first board shall serve respectively for the following terms (or until their respective successors are appointed and qualified): one for one year, one for two (2) years, one for three (3) years, one for four (4) years, one for five (5) years, one for six (6) years, and one for seven (7) years; and the successor to each member, when appointed, shall serve for a term of five (5) years.
