(a) Scuba Diving Restrictions. Scuba diving is prohibited except at areas designated for that purpose.
(b) Certification Card Required. All scuba divers, other than those taking part in a field trip dive under the direct supervision of a Certified Scuba instructor, must be certified and have in their possession a valid Certified Scuba Card.
(c) Possession of a Scuba Diving Permit. Each diver must completely fill out one (1) Scuba Diving Permit per person per day, which includes reading and signing the release of liability portion of the permit. The envelope portion of the permit, along with required fee, must be deposited into one of the two provided fee canisters, or presented to the dive concession operator. The receipt portion of the permit must be displayed inside of the diver’s vehicle windshield with name visible from outside of the vehicle. This entire process must be properly completed prior to entering the water.
(d) Scuba Diving Access. All divers must enter and leave the water only at those areas which have been officially designated for that purpose.
(e) Self-Reliant/Solo Diving is Prohibited. Diving alone is not permitted unless properly certified from a nationally recognized scuba training agency and only after completing a solo scuba diving permit.
(1) Each diver must completely fill out one (1) Solo Scuba Diving Permit found online or at the scuba concession stand. The permit must be displayed inside the diver's vehicle windshield with the name visible from outside of the vehicle. This entire process must be properly completed prior to entering the water.
(2) Rebreather style diving is prohibited for solo diving.
(3) All solo divers must have a valid solo, self sufficient or self-reliant Scuba Certification Card present.
(4) The solo scuba diver is required to be properly equipped with a redundant breathing gas supply at all times.
(5) Each solo diver is required to have an attachable tow flag or float that marks the location of the diver.
(6) The diving fee is required with the appropriate monetary amount for diving set by the concession stand, a copy of this receipt must be visible on the vehicle dash prior to entering the water.
(f) Scuba Diving Prohibited in the Tunnel. No person shall scuba dive within the tunnel located at White Star Park Quarry without a special permit obtained from the scuba concession stand.
(1) Each diver must completely fill out one (1) Tunnel Dive Plan found online or at the scuba concession stand.
(2) Tunnel diving is only available when the Scuba Concession is open for business and is given the special permit.
(3) Tunnel divers will complete all appropriate paper work prior to entering the water.
(4) The diving fee is required with the appropriate monetary amount for diving set by the concession stand, a copy of this receipt must be visible on the vehicle dash prior to entering the water.
(g) Refunds. No refunds for scuba diving will be issued for any reason.
(h) Scuba Diving Within Swimming Area is Prohibited. Scuba diving within any designated swimming area is prohibited without permission to do so.
(i) Scheduled Hours for Scuba Diving. Scuba diving is permitted from April 1 thru December 31 of each year, from 8:00 a.m to one half hour before sunset and at all other times so designated by the Director. Special night diving is permitted with a permission from the park district and pre-registering at the Scuba Concession Stand.
(j) Snorkeling.
(1) Snorkeling is permitted within the designated swimming area during regular beach hours.
(2) Anyone wishing to snorkel within the swimming area must enter and exit through the beach access gate.
(3) Snorkeling is not permitted under the diving board area.
(4) Snorkeling is only permitted when the beach is open and admission is required.
