183.02 POWERS AND DUTIES.
   (a)   Members of the Sandusky City Tree Commission shall have the power to study, investigate, plan, advise, report and recommend to the City Commission and the City Manager any action, program, plan or legislation which the Tree Commission finds or determines to be necessary or advisable for the care, preservation, trimming, planting, replanting, removal or disposition of trees and shrubs in public ways. The Tree Commission shall seek to educate and inform the residents about the proper care and selection of trees and shrubs and shall publicize information relative to trees and shrubs in whatever manner it considers best serves the needs of City residents. The Tree Commission shall inform the residents of the City about the ordinances in force in the City pertaining to trees and shrubs.
   (b)   The Sandusky City Tree Commission shall prepare lists of tree species for the City. No species other than those included in the list may be planted as street trees without written permission from the Sandusky City Tree Commission. This list shall be reviewed annually and updated when needed.
