(a) The imposition of any penalty, as provided for in this Chapter, shall not preclude the Law Director from instituting an appropriate action in a court of proper jurisdiction to prevent an unlawful repair or maintenance, to restrain, correct or abate a violation, to prevent the occupancy of a building, structure or premises, to require compliance with the provisions of this Chapter or other applicable laws, ordinances, rules or regulations, or the orders or determinations of the Building Official or his or her designee, or the Housing Appeals Board.
(b) No person shall violate any provision or fail to conform to any requirements of this Chapter or any rule or regulation promulgated thereunder, or fail to comply therewith or with any written notice or written order issued thereunder.
(c) Whoever violates any section of this Chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree and shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000). A separate offense shall be deemed committed each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues.
(d) The application of the penalty provided in subsection (c) hereof shall not be held to prevent the removal of prohibited conditions.
