(a) The Building Official or his or her designee is authorized to make inspections of commercial and industrial premises located within the City of Sandusky for purposes of enforcing the provisions of this Chapter. For the purpose of making such inspections, and upon showing appropriate identification, the Building Official or his or her designee is hereby authorized to examine and survey at any reasonable hours all commercial and industrial premises. If entry is refused or not obtained, the Building Official or his or her designee shall conduct the inspection only as provided by law. This Chapter shall not be construed to require an occupant, operator or owner to consent to a warrantless inspection of commercial or industrial premises except as provided by law.
(b) Every occupant of a commercial or industrial property shall give the owner thereof, or his agent or employee, access to any part of the building or its premises, at all reasonable times, for the purpose of making the repairs or alterations as are necessary to effect compliance with the provisions of this Chapter, or with any lawful rule or regulation adopted or any lawful order issued pursuant thereto.
(c) No person shall obstruct or hinder the Building Official or his or her authorized representative or other City department head or his or her authorized representative while attempting to make a lawfully authorized inspection.
