Any public vehicle for hire being operated in violation of any provision of this chapter may be impounded by the police. The vehicle shall remain impounded until such time that the vehicle has been licensed as a public vehicle for hire pursuant to the provisions of this chapter or an application to license the vehicle as a public vehicle for hire pursuant to the provisions of this chapter has been denied.
