(a) All public vehicles for hire shall have permanently printed or affixed to the sides and rear of the vehicle the public vehicle for hire registered business name and the word “taxicab” or “limousine” in a manner suitable to the Chief of Police or designee. Such lettering shall be not less than three inches in height.
(b) Public vehicle for hire operators that provide chauffeured limousine services in the form of an executive sedan or a stretch limousine and that provide proof of a policy of liability insurance for each public vehicle for hire in the minimum amount of at least one million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000) combined single limit shall be exempt from providing exterior identification as required by this section. Such policy shall be acceptable to and approved by the Chief of Police or designee and shall be written by an insurance company authorized to carry on business in the State of Ohio. For purposes of this subsection:
(1) “Executive sedan” means a four-door sedan automobile having a seating capacity of not more than three passengers behind the driver and a minimum wheelbase of 114.5 inches. An executive sedan is equipped with standard factory amenities, and the wheelbase shall not be altered.
(2) “Stretch limousine” means an automobile with a seating capacity of not more than twelve passengers behind the driver, and a maximum wheelbase of 285 inches. The wheelbase has been factory or otherwise altered beyond the original manufacturer’s specifications and meets standards of the United States Department of Transportation. The automobile is equipped with amenities in the rear seating area not normally found in passenger cars. These amenities may include, but are not limited to, a television, musical sound system, telephone, ice storage, power-operated dividers, or additional interior lighting.
(3) The terms “executive sedan” and “stretch limousine” excludes trucks, funeral home vehicles, station wagons, vans, and minivans.
