(a) The examination fee for the journeyman electrician’s license and the residential electrician’s license shall be established by the Director of Engineering Services, approved by City Commission and shall not be refundable. Upon passing the examination successful candidates may make application for a journeyman electrician’s license or residential electrician’s license. The cost for the license and annual renewal thereof, shall be established by the Director of Engineering Services, approved by City Commission, and shall not be refundable. A schedule of fees shall be kept on file in the office of the Department of Engineering Services.
(b) The licensing period shall be for the calendar year or part thereof. Applications for the renewal of each license shall be made at least ten days before the expirations date of the old license, and upon approval of the Examining Board, the license shall be renewed for a period of one year. Should the licensee fail to apply for renewal within a thirty-day period after the date of the expiration, the license shall become null and void.
(c) Except as provided in subsection (d) hereof, no permit shall be issued to any person to do or cause to be done any electrical installations regulated by this Electrical Code, except to a person holding a valid and unexpired electrical contractor’s license issued by the Ohio Construction Industry Examination Board pursuant to Chapter 4740 of the Ohio Revised Code and is currently registered with the City as required by Section 1317.03 of the City Code.
(d) Any permit required by this Code may be issued to any person to do any work regulated by this Code in a one, two and three-family dwelling used exclusively for living purposes, including the usual accessory buildings and quarters in connection with such buildings, provided the person is the bona fide owner of such dwelling and that same will be occupied by said owner and that said owner shall personally purchase all material and perform all labor in connection therewith, and complying with the requirements of this Code.
