933.12 BUILDING SEWER LATERALS; ABANDONMENT.
   (a)   Any building sewer lateral, which is to be perminently removed from service due to the demolition of a building or any other reason, shall be properly abandoned.
   (b)   Prior to the issuance of a building demolition permit, when the sewer lateral is to be permanently abandoned, an excavating permit shall be obtained by a contractor who is licensed to do excavations within the City rights of way.
   (c)   The excavating contractor shall be required to expose and plug the sewer lateral at some point between the curb or edge of pavement and the street right-of-way line unless otherwise approved by the City Engineer. Normally the abandoned sewer line will be plugged at some point between the curb and the sidewalk.
   (d)   After an abandoned sewer lateral has been exposed and plugged, it shall not be backfilled until it has been inspected and approved by the City Plumbing Inspector.
