Upon notification by the Engineer of the proper number of a building, the owner of the building shall cause the number to be placed and continuously maintained in a conspicuous place on the front of the building. If a building stands back more than 45 feet from the street line, the number shall be conspicuously displayed at or near the walk, driveway, or common entrance to the building at the street line on a gate post, fence, tree, post, or other appropriate place so as to be easily legible from the sidewalk.
