(a) Wages. The following classes are hereby established: Student Intern and Graduate Student Intern. Student Interns shall be compensated at salary range 4M of the MOU applicable to the Administrative Services Unit and Graduate Student Interns shall be compensated at salary range 5M of the MOU applicable to the Administrative Services Unit. Student Interns and Graduate Student Interns shall receive step advances in the same manner as employees in the Administrative Services Unit except that there shall be no right to review or appeal. Advanced step placement may be approved by the Director of Human Resources.
(b) Working Conditions.
(1) PST Deferred Compensation Plan. Employees covered by this section shall participate in the County's PST deferred compensation plan in lieu of participation in any other retirement plan, program, or benefit. Said employees shall contribute seven and one-half percent of the employee's biweekly base compensation up to seven and one-half percent of the employee's maximum covered wages for Social Security purposes. The employee's contributions to PST deferred compensation shall be automatically deducted from employee's earnings. Employees shall enroll in the plan on forms approved by Human Resources. This Subdivision shall not apply to any employee who is otherwise covered by the County retirement system.
(2) Employees covered by this section shall be paid at one and one-half times their regular rate of pay for hours worked over 40 hours per work week.
(3) The Director of Human Resources shall have the authority, with the approval of the County's Chief Executive Officer, to provide Student Intern employees with COVID-19 Premium Pay consistent with COVID-19 Premium Pay provided to the majority of represented bargaining units.
(4) Unclassified Service. Employees covered by this section are in the unclassified service.
