(A) It is the intent of this chapter to require the owners and occupants of real property in the unincorporated area of the county that is located entirely within the territorial boundaries of the City of Hollister ("county islands"), or partially within the territorial boundaries of the City of Hollister ("county pockets"), or along certain urbanized edges of the City of Hollister, as depicted in the map attached to Ordinance 857 and incorporated herein by reference as Exhibit A, to maintain said properties to:
(1) Reduce the risk of uncontrolled fires and the harm they may cause to individuals;
(2) Minimize the spread of any fire to other properties and buildings;
(3) Reduce obstructions to fire suppression efforts if a fire does occur;
(4) Increase the opportunity for firefighters to successfully protect lives, residences and other valuable buildings from wildfires;
(5) Protect populated areas such as suburban areas, and urban and rural subdivisions from encroaching wildfires;
(6) Protect the public from vegetation otherwise noxious or dangerous, including poison oak and poison ivy, in a condition of growth constituting a menace to public health; and
(7) Protect public and private property from the encroachment of vegetation otherwise noxious or dangerous to the public health, including poison oak and poison ivy.
(B) It is the further intent of the county to seek voluntary compliance with this chapter and to provide remedies if such compliance is not obtained.
