(A) The Town Animal Control Officer may take into custody any cat found to be causing a nuisance, an unsanitary, and/or a dangerous situation unless such cat can be identified as under the care of its owner.
(B) If a cat is determined to be injured, diseased or potentially dangerous and the owner is unknown, the Town Animal Control Officer may, under the opinion of a veterinarian, have the animal painlessly put to death by a licensed veterinarian.
(C) If the owner of a cat taken into custody by the Animal Control Officer is known, the owner will be notified as soon as possible. The Animal Control Officer will determine, based on the danger or safety concerns of the situation, whether the cat must be quarantined or in need of evaluation by a veterinarian. The cost of such quarantine or evaluation to be borne by the owner.
