§ 153.03 STANDARDS.
   (A)   In no case shall a residential driveway grade exceed 5% of the first 30 feet extending in from a public road. No residential driveway shall have a grade greater than 15% at any point.
   (B)   Residential driveways shall be paved for a minimum of 15 feet from the edge of a public road into the property, in accordance with “typical treatment of driveway” detail drawings.
   (C)   All residential driveways shall be a minimum of 24 feet wide at the edge of the public road and shall taper to a minimum of 12 feet wide at 22 feet into the property, which shall be cleared of all obstructions for an additional three feet on either side. Residential driveway width shall not be less than 12 feet throughout its length. Other configurations may be required by the Director of Public Works or the First Selectman to address special sites.
   (D)   Residential driveways shall intersect public roads at an angle of approximately 90 degrees, but not less than 60 degrees.
   (E)   Residential driveways shall be accessible to emergency vehicles. Obstructions shall be cleared throughout the width and length of the driveway to a height of 12 feet. At no point in a driveway shall the radius of curvature be less than 50 feet.
   (F)   As a minimum, paved residential driveway cross-sections shall consist of a compacted six-inch base of bank run gravel that meets all requirements of CONNDOT gradation A and a two-inch finish course of broken or crushed stone, or equal.
   (G)   All residential driveways that include sections with grades of 10% or greater, and all sections adjacent to these sections with grades of 5% or greater, shall consist of a compacted six-inch base of bank run gravel that meets all requirements of CONNDOT gradation A, and a two-inch finish course of class 2 bituminous concrete.
   (H)   A clear line-of-sight distance of 200 feet measured five feet back from the edge of road pavement shall be provided at the intersection of a residential driveway and the public road. Greater distances may be required by the Director of Public Works or the First Selectman.
   (I)   Driveways shall be designed, to the satisfaction of the Director of Public Works or the First Selectman, to ensure that water does not flow from the driveway onto the road pavement or from the road pavement onto the driveway.
