(A) Under the direction of the Council, the Street Commissioner will supervise the improvement and repair of streets, avenues, alleys, lands, lanes, squares, wards, bridges, viaducts, sidewalks, storm sewers, drains, ditches, culverts, streams, and watercourses. He or she shall also supervise the lighting, sprinkling, and cleaning of all public places, and shall perform other duties, consistent with the nature of his or her office as the Council shall require. The Chairperson of the Maintenance Committee will act as liaison and make recommendations to the Council of matters under the cognizance of the Street Commissioners; however, the Chairperson may not assume the authority of the Council.
(B) He or she will be personally responsible for the supervision, training, and periodic evaluation required of all personnel employed in his or her department, and the authentication of all records involving their working hours. The latter to be submitted to the Village Clerk at least weekly.
