A. Application: This policy regulates the use of surveillance cameras to protect the legal and privacy interests of the City, its employees and authorized invitee use of the City facilities. This policy applies to all City use of surveillance systems and devices for monitoring and/or recording activity.
B. Non-Surveillance Exceptions: This policy does not apply to the use of video for non-surveillance purposes, examples include:
1. Cameras used for training and other related educational purposes.
2. Webcams used for purposes of communication between specific persons.
3. Cameras or camera systems use for virtual appearances at City meetings.
4. Cameras or camera systems use for City promotional and or public educational purposes.
C. Law Enforcement Exception: This policy does not apply to the use of video surveillance systems for law enforcement purposes when used by or under the direction of the Chief of Police. (Ord. 2021-750, 10-12-2021)
