(A) It shall be the duty of the Director of Public Works to take care that the provisions of all village ordinances in regard to streets, avenues, alleys, and public ways in the village and also all public grounds, sidewalks, drains, and sewers of the village are obeyed. He or she shall further comply with such orders or directions, either general or special, as he or she may from time to time receive from the Board of Trustees or the President thereof. For any refusal or neglect on his or her part to obey such lawful orders or fulfill any other duty imposed upon him or her, he or she shall be subject to removal from office.
(B) It shall be the duty of the Director of Public Works to see that the tools and implements of the village, obtained for the purpose of working the streets, avenues, and alleys of the village, shall be properly taken care of. When the same are not in use by him or her for that purpose, he or she shall collect the same and deposit them in some safe and convenient place to be designated by the Committee on Streets and Alleys. The Director of Public Works is hereby forbidden from loaning or hiring said tools or implements to any person, unless it shall be for the purpose of working on any of the streets, avenues, or alleys of the village.

(C) The Director of Public Works shall have full charge of the pumping plant, station, mains, and hydrants of the waterworks plant owned by the village. He or she shall, under the supervision of the Committee on Police, Fire, and Water of the village, make and superintend the making of all needful repairs necessary to keep said plant in operation, and with the approval of the Village Board, may make such changes and alterations as may be deemed necessary and advisable to operate said waterworks plant. He or she shall also carry out the orders, rules, and regulations of the Village Board and the Committee on Police, Fire, and Water which shall have charge of said waterworks. Said officer shall make monthly or quarterly statements of water rentals due, and mail the same to the users of water.
