The Village President and the Trustees of the Village Board shall be installed in their newly elected positions on the second Monday in May immediately following the election of such persons to their respective offices and they shall serve a term in accordance with these ordinances and the statutes of the state until the second Monday in May in the year in which their term expires. From the date of the election and the canvas thereof, until the second Monday in May immediately following, the previous officers shall serve as officers of the village.
