8.40.030   Quarantine.
It shall be the duty of the health officer, or of some person authorized by him or her, immediately after the receipt of notice announcing the existence in any building of any infectious or contagious disease, to quarantine the same, if so directed by the State Board of Health, or if in his or her judgment such building should be quarantined. Such building shall be quarantined by posting in such places as may be designated by the health officer a placard or flag, upon which shall be printed the name of the disease, in plain and legible letters of at least two and one-half inches in height. The health officer may, in his or her judgment, quarantine the whole or any portion of such building. Placards or flags announcing the existence of a contagious or infectious disease in a building, or part of a building, shall not be removed, defaced or destroyed by any person, except the health officer or some person authorized by him or her, and in no case until the premises have been thoroughly disinfected. Premises, or parts of premises, while quarantined shall not be visited nor resided in by any persons other than those who are sick or by those in attendance on such sick persons.
