(A) Any new installation of a fixed-fire suppression system installed under a Type I exhaust hood shall be inspected by the Fire Chief, or his or her designee, prior to the cooking equipment being placed into service.
(B) The installer of the fixed-fire suppression system shall:
(1) Adhere to all manufacturers' recommendations for the installation;
(2) Notify the Fire Department at least 48 hours in advance of the system being completed for system testing; and
(3) Provide written documentation to the Fire Department that states the system has been installed per the manufacturer's specifications and successfully tested by the installer.
(C) In existing commercial kitchen hood and exhaust systems, the property owner or tenant shall contact the Fire Chief, or his or her designee, prior to modifying any portion of the kitchen hood or exhaust system (e.g. cutting access panels into existing exhaust ductwork). The Fire Chief, or his or her designee, shall inspect all work performed on existing systems.
