In the event that a planning commission is established separate from and in addition to the zoning board of appeals, the members of such planning commission shall serve for a period of two (2) years. Vacancies shall be filled by appointment for unexpired terms only. All members of the commission shall serve without compensation; except, that if the board of trustees deems it advisable, they may receive such compensation as may be fixed from time to time by the board of trustees and provided for in the appropriation ordinance.
