§ 30.12 COMPELLING ATTENDANCE.
The Village Council, by a majority vote of the members present, may compel the attendance of an absent member by instructing the Village Marshal to summon the absent member to appear at the Village Council meeting. Failure of the absent member to appear after being so summoned shall (unless excused by a majority vote of the Village Council members) be deemed non-feasance of office and shall authorize the Village Council to seek a writ of mandamus from the appropriate court to compel the Village Council member’s attendance. Failure of the Village Council member to abide by the writ of mandamus shall entitle the Village Council, by a majority of its members, to declare the absent Village Council member’s seat vacated and to fill the same as provided by state statute.
