1301.09 INSTALLATION OF SMOKE DETECTORS.
   No person shall occupy a newly constructed single-family dwelling, two-family dwelling, or multiple-family dwelling as tenant or owner, or let the same to another for occupancy unless such dwelling has installed therein, and in operating condition, a smoke detector on each living area level of each such dwelling unit. Such smoke detector shall be either a photoelectric or an ionization type, of a design approved by nationally recognized testing laboratories, such as Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.
