(A) The office of the Director of Public Safety is hereby created.
(B) The exempt position of Director of Public Safety shall be appointed by the Village Manager from the ranks of the sworn and commissioned officers of the village from the rank of Sergeant or above, including Chief of Police. The Director of Public Safety shall be appointed based upon his demonstrated ability, knowledge and experience in the management of governmental affairs affecting all aspects of public safety.
(C) For the purpose of this subchapter, the Director of Public Safety shall be the head of this village department.
