§ 33.05 COMMANDER POSITIONS.
   (A)   The position of Commander is created.
   (B)   Individual police personnel from any rank of full-time officers of the Romeoville Police Department having at least seven years of full-time service as police officers in the Department or individual police personnel having at least seven years of full-time service as police officers certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board shall be eligible to serve in the position of Commander.
   (C)   The Chief of Police is authorized and directed to establish the duties and responsibilities of the Commander position.
   (D)   The Chief of Police is charged with the responsibility of preparing standards, methods and procedures for determining the qualifications of the police personnel eligible for the position of Commander.
   (E)   An officer appointed to the position of Commander shall be an exempt rank below that of the Chief of Police and shall serve at the discretion of the Chief of Police. If removed from the position without termination of employment with the village, the officer shall revert to the Romeoville Police Department rank held immediately prior to appointment to the Commander position. If the officer in question did not hold a rank within the Department immediately prior to the appointment to the Commander position, upon removal from the position without termination of employment with the village, the officer shall revert to the rank of patrolman.
   (F)   Nothing herein contained is intended to otherwise alter the duty and authority of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.
