Pursuant to Article 10, Division 2.1 of the Illinois Municipal Code (ILCS Ch. 65, Act 5, § 10-2.1-1 et seq.), there has heretofore been established a Board of Fire and Police Commissioners to carry out the duties and responsibilities set forth therein, which Board shall continue to exist and carry out such duties and responsibilities in accordance with said Article 10, Division 2.1 of the Illinois Municipal Code, provided, however, that the membership of the Board shall hereinafter consist of five commissioners, all of whom shall serve a term of three years from their appointment and qualification. Nothing herein shall be construed to in any way affect the term or office of any Commissioner holding office as of the date of the adoption of this section. The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners shall further carry out and conduct its business in accordance with the rules and regulations incorporated herein as Appendix A to Chapter 35 of the Code of Ordinances. All actions heretofore taken by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners in accordance therewith are hereby ratified and confirmed in all respects by the corporate authorities of the village.
