(A) Appointment. The City Manager shall appoint a Chief of Police.

(B) Duties generally. It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police to:
(1) Attend all meetings of the City Council;
(2) Supervise the Police Department in cooperation with the City Manager;
(3) Preserve the peace by suppressing all disturbances and apprehending all offenders;
(4) Assign such duties as he or she deems best to police officers of the city;
(5) Cooperate with the Fire Department in the protection of property; and
(6) Carry out such further orders as may be assigned to him or her.
