(A) Appointment. The City Tax Collector shall be appointed by the City Manager.

(B) Duties generally. It shall be the duty of the Tax Collector to:
(1) Collect all personal and real property taxes in cooperation with the City Treasurer (Finance Officer) in accord with G.S. Chapter 105, Subchapter II, Machinery Act, being G.S. §§ 105-271 et seq., and other applicable statutes;
(2) Collect all privilege license, street, and dog taxes in cooperation with the City Treasurer (Finance Officer);
(3) Cooperate with the Police Department;
(4) Pay over to the City Treasurer (Finance Officer) all funds collected in accordance with applicable state statutes;
(5) File a detailed report each month with the City Council showing the amount of money and from what source collected; and
(6) Perform all duties assigned to him or her by the Council or in writing by the City Manager.
