(A) At the first meeting after election, the City Council shall elect one of its number to act as Mayor Pro Tem during his or her term of office, and he or she shall, in case of the absence or disability of the Mayor, perform all the duties of the Mayor.
(B) He or she shall be compensated for his or her services as prescribed by the City Council.
