§ 32.096 DUTIES; SALARY.
   (A)   The Village Engineer, or consulting engineer designated by the Village Board to act in this capacity, shall prepare and/or submit technical reviews of property plats, engineering calculations, construction plans, project cost estimates, bidding documents, technical specifications, shop drawings and material certifications for any public work which may be proposed or ordered by the Village Board. The Village Engineer shall also examine all public works under his or her charge, as directed by the Village Board, and see that the property plats, engineering calculations, construction plans, project cost estimates, bidding documents, technical specifications, shop drawings and material certifications for the same are properly executed, to the extent allowed by village ordinance. The Village Engineer shall receive reasonable compensation for his or her services and the same will be provided for in the annual appropriation ordinance on an estimated basis.
   (B)   The Village Engineer shall hold paramount the safety, health and welfare of the public as a part of his or her responsibilities. The Village Engineer, or consulting engineer designated by the Village Board to act in this capacity, shall be a licensed professional engineer in the state and maintain such status throughout his or her appointment.
