Nothing in this subchapter or in the Building Code hereby adopted shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding impending in any court, or any rights acquired, or liability incurred, or any cause or causes of action acquires or existing, under any act or ordinance hereby repealed as cited as § 150.002; nor shall any just or legal right or remedy of any character be lost, impaired or affected by this subchapter.

Once a building permit is issued, the applicable building codes of any unit of local government that are in effect at the time of the issuance of the permit shall be the only building codes that apply for the duration of the building permit (65 ILCS 5/11-39-4).
