§ 156.035 PERMITTED OBSTRUCTIONS IN REQUIRED YARDS.
   (A)   The following shall not be considered obstructions when located within a required yard. However, on a corner lot, no permitted obstruction to visibility is allowed within 30 feet of a zoning lot corner formed by the intersection of any two street lines. Obstructions within 20 feet of a zoning lot corner may be permitted where the obstruction is less than three feet high and no less than ten feet high. Any portion of such a permitted obstruction on a corner lot which is between three feet and ten feet in height above the ground shall not be greater than 14 inches in diameter.
   (B)   In no case shall the following list of permitted obstructions in yards validate permanent construction where otherwise prohibited.
      (1)   In any yard.
         (a)   Air conditioning unit;
         (b)   Arbors or trellises;
         (c)   Chimneys projecting not more than two feet into the yards;
         (d)   Fences complying with § 156.038;
         (e)   Flagpoles, not exceeding 35 feet in height;
         (f)   Ornamental light standards not over six feet in height;
         (g)   Outdoor coin telephones and booths (where permitted);
         (h)   Signs in conformance with §§ 156.165 through 156.175 ;
         (i)   Steps;
         (j)   Terraces;
         (k)   Trees and shrubs; and
         (l)   Accent walls as an extension of a building, not exceeding three feet in height.
      (2)   In any rear yard.
         (a)   Accessory noncommercial greenhouses, providing not over 150 square feet;
         (b)   Accessory off-street parking space, open or enclosed garage;
         (c)   Single accessory shed, tool room or other similar building or structure for domestic or agricultural storage providing not over 150 square feet;
         (d)   Children’s play equipment;
         (e)   Recreational or drying clothes yard equipment;
         (f)   Satellite dish antennas meeting the requirements of § 156.039;
         (g)   Swimming pools, private;
         (h)   Television antennas; and
         (i)   Ornamental windmills and garden furniture.
      (3)   In any front yard.
         (a)   Driveways leading to garages or accessory off-street parking spaces located beyond the required front yard; and
         (b)   Parking for single-family or duplex residence on a driveway leading directly to a garage or other approved accessory or off-street parking spaces.
      (4)   In any side yards.
         (a)   Noncommercial radio and television towers and antennas;
         (b)   Open accessory off-street parking spaces, excluding carports; and
         (c)   Satellite dish antennas meeting the requirements of § 156.039.
