§ 33.04 CLASSIFICATION AND ADVANCEMENT OF MEMBERS.
   (A)   The Fire Department shall have the following membership classifications:
      (1)   Probationary members.
      (2)   Second class members.
      (3)   First class members.
   (B)   Upon first being appointed, a firefighter shall serve at least 12 months in the probationary class before becoming eligible for promotion. In addition the candidate must successfully complete the required schooling for a second class or first class firefighter prior to promotion.
   (C)   Any advancement in classification or increase in compensation shall become effective on January 1 or July 1, whichever comes first after the firefighter becomes eligible for such advancements.
