§ 96.53 PLACEMENT OF EXPANSION JOINTS; COMPOSITION; SIZE.
   Expansion joints shall be placed in sidewalks at intervals not to exceed 25 feet. The preformed filler to be used in the expansion joints shall be composed of a durable elastic material, which is considered the typical and common material used and accepted in the concrete industry for this purpose. The thickness of joints shall not be less than one-half inch. The length of joints shall be equal to the sidewalk’s width and the depth shall not be less than the thickness of the sidewalk. Preformed filler of one-half inch thickness shall be placed where the sidewalk joins with any curb or curb gutter.
