(A) Every taxicab for which a certificate has been issued under this chapter shall be subject to periodic inspection by the Chief of Police or by a person designated by him or her for such purpose.
(B) It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police or of the designated person to inspect every such taxicab every 12 months, together with such additional inspections as may be deemed necessary or advisable.
