§ 32.45  DEPUTY MARSHALS; HUMANE OFFICER.
   (A)   (1)   The position of Deputy Marshal is hereby established for the town.
      (2)   The Town Council may employ no more than two Deputy Marshals for the town.
      (3)   The cumulative hours served by the Deputy Marshal(s) shall not exceed 20 hours per week. The Deputy Marshal(s) shall serve at the discretion of the Council.
      (4)   The Town Council may employ no more than two Reserve Marshals for the town. The Reserve Marshal(s) shall serve at the discretion of the Council.
      (5)   (a)   Deputy  Marshal(s). The Deputy Marshal(s) shall be compensated at an hourly rate set by the Town Council at the time of hiring and as adjusted from time to time by the Town Council.
         (b)   Reserve Marshal(s). The Reserve Marshal(s) shall be compensated as designated by the Town Council in accordance with the provision of I.C. 36-8-3-20.
         (c)   Compensation. Compensation may include:
            1.   Uniform allowance;
            2.   Compensation for lost time from other employment because of court appearances; and
            3.   Insurance for life, accident and sickness coverage.
      (6)   All persons serving in the position of Deputy Marshal or Reserve Marshal shall complete all requisite state and local law enforcement training which may be required by the state legislature from time to time. Failure to complete training shall constitute grounds for immediate dismissal by the Town Council.
   (B)   One Deputy Marshal may be designated as the Town Humane Officer. He or she has the duties prescribed by I.C. 36-8 for municipal humane officers.
