For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
BUILDING INSPECTOR. The official responsible for the administration and enforcement of this subchapter.
FLOOD or FLOOD WATER. The water of any river or stream which is above the banks and diagonal or outside the channel and banks of the river or stream.
FLOOD HAZARD AREAS. Those flood plains which may have not been adequately protected from flooding by means of dikes, levies, reservoirs or other works approved by natural resources.
FLOOD-PRONE AREAS. Collectively, Floodway District, Floodway Fringe District, flood hazard areas.
FLOOD PROTECTION GRADE. The elevation of the lowest point around the perimeter of a building at which flood water may enter the interior of the building.
FLOODWAY DISTRICT. The area designated as a “commission floodway” by natural resources.
FLOODWAY FRINGE DISTRICT. Those portions of flood hazard areas lying outside the Floodway District.
NATURAL RESOURCES. The Indiana Natural Resources Commission.
REGULATORY FLOOD PROFILE. A longitudinal profile along the thread of a stream showing the maximum water surface attained by the regulatory flood.
TOWN. The Town of Roachdale, Putnam County, Indiana.
TOWN COUNCIL. The Town Council of the Town of Roachdale, Putnam County, Indiana.
