§ 71.62  MAXIMUM LAWFUL SPEEDS; ALTERATION.
   (A)   Maximum lawful speeds. Except when a special hazard exists that requires lower speed for compliance with § 71.61 of this chapter, the limits specified in this section are the maximum lawful speeds. A person may not drive a vehicle on a highway at a speed of the following maximum limits:
      (1)   Thirty mph in an urban district;
      (2)   Thirty mph, except as provided in divisions (A)(3) and (A)(4) below;
      (3)   Twenty mph in a school zone; and
      (4)   Ten mph in an alley.
   (B)   Alteration of maximum speed limits.  The maximum speed limits set forth in division (A) above may be altered as follows:
      (1)   By the state’s Department of Transportation under I.C. 9-21-5-12;
      (2)   By the Transportation Finance Authority under I.C. 8-15-2-17.2; and
      (3)   In work sites by all jurisdictions under I.C. 9-21-5-11.
