9-1-11: WEIGHT OF VEHICLES; RESTRICTED ON CERTAIN STREETS:
   (A)   Except as hereinafter provided in subsection (B) of this section, the use of the roadway by trucks and other vehicles having a gross weight in excess of eight thousand (8,000) pounds (4 tons) shall be prohibited at all times on all streets and roadways within the village, except for the following named streets and roadways:
Desplaines Avenue
East Burlington Street
First Avenue
Forest Avenue
Harlem Avenue
Ogden Avenue
Twenty Sixth Street
Woodside Road (Ord. 2508, 9-20-2004)
   (B)   The provisions of subsection (A) of this section shall not apply to the operation of municipal fire apparatus, municipally contracted garbage trucks, construction trucks pursuant to the issuance of a proper construction permit and haul road routing by the village manager or building commissioner, post office trucks, utility service trucks, or tree trimming and spraying trucks; nor shall such provisions apply to the operation of any other truck or vehicle on any street or roadway in the village where necessary in the conduct of a lawful business purpose to make a delivery, render a service or pick up a load, in which case such truck or vehicle may be driven on any street for not more than the minimum distance necessary between the point of destination and the nearest street where truck traffic is permitted.
The village manager is hereby authorized and directed to post appropriate signs setting forth the weight limits prescribed by this section at all entrance roadways to the village. (Ord. 1305, 2-21-1977)
