9-1-1: DEFINITIONS:
The following terms, as used in this title, are defined as follows:
ABANDONED VEHICLE: Any vehicle in a state of disrepair rendering the vehicle incapable of being driven in its condition or any vehicle that has not been moved or used for seven (7) consecutive days or more and is apparently deserted.
CROSSWALK: That portion of the roadway included within the prolongation of the sidewalk lines at street intersections.
HOLIDAYS: As used in this title shall include only New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
INOPERABLE MOTOR VEHICLE: Any motor vehicle, whether on public or private property, from which for a period of thirty (30) days or more, the engine, wheels, or other parts have been removed, or on which the engine, wheels, or other parts have been altered, damaged, or otherwise so treated that the vehicle is incapable of being driven under its own motor power. Inoperable vehicles also include any vehicle that cannot be legally operated under the Illinois Vehicle Code requirements. Inoperable motor vehicle does not include any motor vehicle that is kept within a building when not in use, or a motor vehicle on the premises of a place of business licensed to engage in the repair, wrecking or junking of motor vehicles.
INTERSECTION: The area embraced between the prolongation of the curb lines of two (2) or more streets that join at an angle, whether or not one of such streets crosses the other.
MOTOR VEHICLE: A machine designed to be propelled by other than human power along the ground by use of wheels, treads, runners, or slides, and transports persons or property or pulls machinery and shall include, without limitation, automobiles, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, tractors, and wagons.
PARK: To leave a vehicle standing for a period longer than is reasonably necessary for the loading or unloading of persons or materials.
PERSON: Any person, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company, or organization of any kind.
ROADWAY: That portion of any street or alley between the curb lines.
U-TURN: The turning of a vehicle in a highway so as to reverse the direction in which the vehicle is moving.
YIELD RIGHT-OF-WAY: The granting of preferential right-of-way to vehicles approaching from the right or left on an intersecting roadway. (Ord. 2960, 7-20-2017)
