1-11-2: DUTIES:
The Village Attorney shall have all of the powers and perform all of the duties now or hereafter provided by law or by the ordinances of the Village. Among other things, it shall be his duty:
   (A)   To attend all meetings of the Board of Trustees and to give oral or written opinions on all legal questions submitted to him by the President or Board of Trustees;
   (B)   To draft all ordinances, bonds, contracts, conveyances and other written instruments required by the Board or by other administrative bodies in the transaction of Village business;
   (C)   To prosecute or defend all suits for or in behalf of the Village, or any official of the Village in his official character subject to the order and direction of the President and Board of Trustees;
   (D)   To give the necessary attention to all proceedings before the Illinois Commerce Commission, and before other administrative and regulatory bodies, in which the Village may be a party or be directly interested;
   (E)   To prosecute all cases brought before the court for any Village ordinance when directed by the President or Board of Trustees, or in an emergency, by the Chief of Police;
   (F)   To superintend all proceedings in reference to the levying and collection of the general taxes of the Village;
   (G)   To keep in suitable books provided for that purpose a docket of all suits or proceedings prosecuted or defended by him in which the Village is an interested party;
   (H)   To act as the attorney for the Board of Local Improvements and attend all meetings of said Board, to prepare or supervise the preparation of all necessary instruments, resolutions, notices, recommendations, estimates, all contracts and contractor's bonds in connection with any proposed local improvement. He shall institute all court proceedings in connection with the levying of special assessments or special tax proceedings for all local improvements and prosecute said proceedings to their conclusion.
