Persons employed in the position of Public Service Officer shall be placed under the supervision of the Chief of Police and shall be assigned such tasks as the Chief deems necessary to carry out the purposes of this Section. Such officer shall wear a uniform and identification symbol prescribed by the Chief of Police, which uniform and symbol shall be different and distinct from that worn by the members of the regular Police Department and Auxiliary Police Corp. Such officer, as a civilian employee, shall not carry a firearm or other weapon.
