The Chief of Police shall be, under the direction of the Village Manager, the custodian of all property seized, recovered or taken by the Police and of all lost or stolen property within the Village. As such custodian, he shall keep or cause to be kept an accurate record of all property which has been seized or otherwise taken possession of by the Police force. (1965 Code, Sec. 12.20)
