The village manager is authorized, subject to the approval of the president of the village, to appoint a clerk to be known as the police clerk to perform such clerical duties as may be required in carrying on the business of the separate office or station of the police department. The police clerk shall not be deemed a member of the police department. (1965 Code, Sec. 12.08)
