2-17-7: AUXILIARY POLICE; APPOINTMENT, TERM:
The village president, with the advice and consent of the board of trustees, may appoint such number of auxiliary policemen as the board of trustees shall, from time to time, deem to be necessary. No such auxiliary policemen shall be a member of the regular police department of the village, nor shall any person be so appointed as an auxiliary policeman if he has been convicted of a felony or other crime involving moral turpitude. While not required, the village president shall nevertheless consider the residency of those persons being considered for appointment as auxiliary policemen. All such persons being so considered for appointment shall submit to fingerprinting and following appointment, but before entering upon any duties as an auxiliary policeman, each such person shall receive a course of training in the use of weapons and other police procedures as set forth in the "Riverside Police Procedure Manual" heretofore adopted by the board of trustees in 1972 for general use by the village police department. Such training shall be administered by members of the village police department under the supervision of the chief of police. Appointments of auxiliary police shall expire on April 30, succeeding the date of appointment and may be revoked at any time by the president and board of trustees. (Ord. 1273, 8-18-1975)
